Privacy Notice

This notice explains how the $1 Movement handles information submitted through its founding-supporter and U.S. help registries.

Effective September 8, 2026 · Founding phase · No payment, document upload, assistance decision, or card issuance is active.

Optional blessings and remembrances

If you choose a blessing or remembrance, we store its reason, optional name and Hebrew name, brief explanation, chosen duration, and end time with your registration email and calendar location. We use these details to manage your blessing or remembrance and send private management links and expiry reminders, respecting your calendar quiet times. Blessings and remembrances stay private by default and are not included in reminder email text. If you separately opt in and confirm through your secure email link, we publish only the reason and the public display names you choose. These public entries may remain for the lifetime of the movement, including after the blessing or remembrance period ends. Ending or replacing your active blessing or remembrance does not remove its previously consented public entry. You can withdraw your public history through your secure management link. Public entries can be viewed and copied by visitors; we cannot erase copies made outside this website. Avoid sensitive details and only provide another person’s name with their permission. You can end or replace your blessing or remembrance using a secure email link; ending it removes its name and intention from the active record. Contact us for deletion of your registration record.

Information we collect

Founding supporters may provide a name, email, phone number, country, postal code, preferred language, future $1 rhythm, and communication choices. U.S. help registrants may provide a name, email, phone number, state, ZIP code, household size, main need category, and residency attestation.

We do not collect payment credentials, assistance documents, Social Security numbers, immigration information, or detailed hardship narratives in this phase.

How we use information

We use information to verify registrations, communicate about the movement or a future assistance stage, maintain accurate records, measure aggregate participation and needs, prevent abuse, and protect the service.

What may appear publicly

Only aggregate totals may be shown. Names, contact details, ZIP codes, and individual circumstances are not displayed. Need-category totals are hidden until at least five households select the category.

When information may be shared

Information may be handled by service providers that help operate hosting, databases, email, security, and registration. It may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, the movement, or the service. Personal information is not sold or rented.

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed for the sensitivity of this founding-stage information, including restricted access and protected transmission. No online system can promise absolute security, so this phase intentionally avoids financial credentials and assistance documents.

Retention and your choices

We keep information while it is needed for the registry, communications, security, legal obligations, and accurate consent records. You may ask to review, correct, or delete your registration. Some records may be retained when legally required or needed for fraud prevention, security, or documented consent.

Location and age

Founding supporters may register from the countries currently listed on the form. The help registry is limited to current U.S. residents. Information may be processed in the United States by approved service providers. Forms should be submitted by an adult or an authorized parent or guardian.

Your location for Shabbat and Yom Tov

We also use your selected city, approximate coordinates, time zone, and Israel/Diaspora calendar to schedule communications outside Shabbat and Yom Tov. City search queries are sent to Open-Meteo; the selected location is stored with your registration.
